Swim Report – June 25, 2023 – Early Summer Chops

A rather boisterous thunderstorm passed through the area at 2:00am last night. And while it provided us with some much-needed rain, I was concerned that the strong accompanying winds would mix up the lake and give us some colder temperatures. Fortunately, it was the opposite!

We still had vigorous, sustained winds from the southeast when I got to L1 just before sunrise. But a surface reading of the lake came in at 71F – which turned out to be constant at all levels. The chops were pretty heavy, and it was very difficult getting in a swim rhythm. But it was quite pleasant overall, and I did just under 1/3 mile in just my jammers and swim cap.

So the halcyon days of early summer have arrived!

Morning chops
Hint of a sunrise
Gearing up
Final stretch!
