Swim Report – December 4, 2010 – Snow swimming!

Nick and I decided to check out the scene at L1 this morning. The forecast called for snow, and for once the weatherman was spot on!

The water temp came in at 41F with 30F air temps and a brisk southeast wind (est. 10-15mph). The chops were quite chaotic, so it was difficult to find a swim rhythm. But the lake was amazingly clear, and it reminded me of the water quality in late April and early May when the colder thermocline layer first mixes it up with the surface water.

So it looks like the fall turnover is 100% complete!

(Kudos to Bethany for the awesome photos and videos!)
