Swim Report – July 19, 2026 – Balmy Chaos

Sunday morning brought us a magnificent 76F lake with the outside air coming in at a pleasantly balmy 72F. However, these ideal conditions were somewhat nullified by overcast skies and a very raucous lake! We had some pretty intense swells with the waves coming up and over L1 at times. Still, several intrepid Lake Monsters gave it a shot!

I was originally planning to swim to the 1/4 mile point and turn around. But I started to get a good groove as I realized I could time the swells and not get a mouthful of lake water. So I slogged past the 1/4 mile point and made a beach landing, which in itself was quite a challenge.

But the lake was uniformly warm at 5:30am, and the sun eventually came out during the walk back to L1. So a bit more adventure than usual, but that’s one of the reasons I swim outdoors to begin with!

Overcast skies and a chaotic swim area!
