Swimming Around the World

There’s a great article on Active.com you should definitely check out: Swimming Around the World: Open Water Destination Races.

However, the one on my short list is the Sandycove Island Challenge in Cork, Ireland. It’s taking place this weekend on the other side of the pond. Anyone interested in getting a Chicago contingency together for their 2010 event?

Next year’s (2010) Challenge will be held on 18th September. You can pre-register an interest at http://www.corkmasters.ie. Entries will open in June/July.
You’ll be very welcome. The swim may be short, but it’s a classic course and a challenge.

! ! ! steve its only a 1800 meter swim , this would only be a sprint warm up for a guy like you. if you really want to swim it ,maybe you could start off at oak st beach and swim there throught the saint lawerance sea way and then cross the atlantic. this way you could get in a nice work out and save some money on air fare.

I would LOVE to do that race! I did the Lee River swim last year and had a blast. I believe the Sandycove swim sells out quickly so it’s best to keep an eye on it.
