Swim Report – June 14, 2026 – Eye of the Storm Edition

We had a brief window of time to get in a swim this morning. But fortune smiled on us and gave us a 61.2F lake, no wind, and mirror flat conditions with an aquarium clear lake!

We had some very heavy t-storms a few hours before sunrise. However, these had passed about an hour before sunrise. Nevertheless, the rain had overwhelmed the stormwater systems and flooded the pedestrian tunnel at the end of North Avenue. Needless to say, it was not very pleasant navigating this mess.

But it was all worth it once we made it to L1 and got in the water. Given the perfectly calm conditions, I opted to do a 1/2 mile point-to-point to Oak Street Beach and walk back. And I made it back just in time as the rain started to come down in earnest as soon as I got back!

So once again, we beat the devil!
