Nick, Mike, and I met at Montrose at the ungodly late hour of 8:30am. The lake temp came in at a crisp 33.4F with the air temp at a chilling 29F. We suited up quite quickly and got into the lake, much to the astonishment of a couple of spectators.
The other two did an out-and-back to the harbor entrance (about a mile). I only did about 1/3 mile since my post-flu swim endurance is nowhere near what it was back in December. However, I haven’t lost any of my cold tolerance. I was quite comfortable during the swim despite the chilly air and water temperatures.
We finished just in time and managed to beat a rather vigorous northwest wind that made its appearance as we returned to the parking lot. By then the sun had come out – a welcome sight now that the days are getting longer!
