When I was a boy in the Midwest I used to go out and look at the stars at night and wonder about them.
I guess every boy does that.
When I wasn’t looking at the stars, I was running in my old or my brand-new tennis shoes, on my way to swing in a tree, swim in a lake, or delve in the town library to read about dinosaurs or time machines.
I guess every boy has done that, too…

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK STEVE FOR TAKING THE TIME TO BECOME A CERTIFIED RED CROSS LIFE GUARD. BECAUSE OF IT HE WAS ABLE TO SAVE A SWIMMER FROM DROWNING LAST WEEK. THE SWIMMER WAS FAR FROM SHORE AND STARTED TO PANIC ONCE SWALLOWING A FEW WAVES. HE NOT ONLY NOTICED THE PROBLEM BUT WENT INTO ACTION AND USED THE HOLDS AND SWAM THE SWIMMER BACK TP SAFETY. A FEW OF US SWIM ALL WINTER LONG WHEN LIFEGUARDS ARE NOT ON DUTY …HE DECIDED TO INVEST THE TIME TO LEARN ABOUT WATER SAFTY AND LIFESAVING ( IN HOPES HE NEVER HAS TO USE IT) . WELL THANK GOD HE WAS THERE TO INSURE THE SWIMMER WILL ENJOY ANOTHER DAY. LAKE MICHIGAN IS A GREAT PLACE TO SWIM BUT MANY WHO VISIT IT FOR A SWIM HAVE NO IDEA THAT IT IS ONE OF THE 5 TOP MOST DANGEROUS WATERS IN THE WORLD. MANY WHO CAN SWIM MILES IN A POOL THINK THEY CAN EASILY HANDLE SWIMMING HERE. ITS NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS AND THE WATER CAN CHANGE FROM MIRROR FLAT TO 6 FOOT ROLLERS IN SECONDS.
