Well, this is a little North of Indiana but I had to comment on swimming this weekend at the Chicago Triathlon.
The water temp was 73F and the air temp at 8am was equally pleasant. For all those who swam Sunday, you could not ask for better conditions. Personally, I felt really good and strong on the swim, and it was the most enjoyable part of the race.
I was waiting for the Sprint Triathlon swimmers to start when I got this picture of the sun peeking over the clouds:

LAKE MICHIGAN HAS NOW TAKEN 68 SWIMMERS TO THEIR DEATH THIS YEAR ! WHEN I READ THIS MORNING HOW YOUNG MAN FROM CHICAGO WENT FOR A SWIM ON THE MICHIGAN SIDE OF THE LAKE AND GOT CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT. I SAID IT BEFORE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN… WE HAVE ONE OF THE GREATEST LAKE IN THE WORLD TO SWIM IN YET SCHOOLS MADE CUT BACKS CLOSING THEIR POOL AND OR NOT MAKING THE STUDNTS LEARN HOW TO SWIM AS PART OF GYM CLASS. I WOULD SUGGEST THEY STOP WASTING MONEY ON FOOTBALL,BASEBALL AND BASKETBALL IN WHICH ONLY A FEW STUDENT GET TO BURN UP A LOT OF SCHOOL FUNDS. TEACH EVERYONE HOW TO SWIM SO THEY CAN ENJOY THE LAKE AND BE SAFE.

Thought I would leave a note of thanks – I did the Triathlon too – my best time in 10 years. Lots of great advice on this site kept me swimming strong and straight. I hope I can make it out a few more times before I go away for the winter.
