I biked out to L1 and arrived at 5:20am just in time for the sunrise. And let me tell you, it was a quite a grand showing! Not to be outdone, the lake gave us mirror flat swimming conditions, Caribbean clear water, and a 71F water temperature.
This perfect storm of perfect conditions brought out quite a crowd of both current and newly minted Lake Monsters. Congrats to all the L1 first timers!

Steve –
Yes you got my name right. I have been following for a long time and regret I did not get out sooner. Plan on seeing me a lot more.
Hey Steve: Katie and I were there and you got us underwater with Dave’s scuba gear. Glad to see how busy L1 is, you are doing a great job promoting “open water swimming”!
Hey Carol! Send me your snail mail address, and I’ll forward a cd with the pics and video of the both of you. The files are too big to send electronically, unfortunately. 🙁
wow ! ! ! the new camera is sweet … the photos and video look like a pro shot them ….
contact the company and ask if they will send you a few dozen cameras ! ! ! if you say pretty please they have to do it …
! ! ! i was under water looking for your goggles , which i found along with $2.00 in change and some other crap.. yes indeed it was one beautiful morning at ladder #1 and we had a very big crowd .
p.s. they closed and posted warnings at most of the lake front beaches today… so swim before 11 am on Sunday before the lifeguards start or you might not be able to.
