Swim Report – April 19, 2026 – Grebe Edition

Although the outside air was a bit crisp this morning at 39F, the lake gave us a nice surprise coming in at a downright fiery 51F. Plus we had clear skies, no wind, and perfect conditions at 6:00am!

My cold tolerance was a bit off due to a rather poor night’s sleep, so I went with my winter gear setup and was perfectly comfortably in the lake and post-swim (i.e. no afterdrop). I had a nice relaxing and almost effortless 1/4 mile swim and was accompanied at times by a group of grebes (a.k.a. “water dance”) that seem to have now made our swim area their minnow hunting grounds.

As noted above, no afterdrop due to the lack of wind and the abundant morning sunshine. All in all, another perfect morning out at the lake!
