I was out of town the prior weekend, so I missed out on one of the last truly balmy swims of the year. But the lake temp came in a surprisingly high 43F – way more palatable than the 32F air temp – and we only had a slight wind from the west. So there was a perfectly calm swim area at 6:45am.
I went with my winter gear this time which included a neoprene shorty, hood, gloves, and booties. This setup worked very well in swim, although having less mobility in the shoulders will take a few outings to get used to. But I was quite comfortable while in the lake and did not experience any significant afterdrop. So overall, a great way to finish out the month!
