We lucked out again this morning with warmer air temperatures to offset the colder lake. The mid-winter water was still around 33F, but the air was a very tolerable 34F with no wind to torment us while out of the lake. There was some ice buildup on L1, but it was a quick job with the pick axe to clear it. So we suited up and got in the lake.
I headed south before my swim was cut a bit short by ice floes at the 1/8 mile marker. So I ended up doing a meandering 1/4 mile total. But the lake was quite calm, and the swim was quite pleasant – certainly much more enjoyable than the post-swim afterdrop. So another great Sunday morning start!
