The forecast called for overcast skies and warmer air temperatures with the possibility of light drizzle. Fortunately for us, the meteorologists were way inaccurate as we had one of the most visually spectacular mornings since I’ve been going out to L1!
The lake came in at 36F, continuing its slow upward trend from last week, and the 29F air temp and lack of wind made for a very pleasant re and post-swim. L1 was still clear from last week, so there were no issues with ingress and egress. Four of us got in a swim and made it almost to the 1/8 mile point before running into clear and sharp pieces of ice. We were able to dodge most of these on our way back, but one of them managed to nick me on my face just when I reached L1. Still, it was well worth the effort as the lake was calm and clear, and we had an astounding show from Mother Nature to the east!
