(Non) Swim Report – December 29, 2009 – Dave's Swim Site Updates

Dave was out at L1 Monday and last Tuesday and took these shots. As you can see, it looks like there was some pretty heavy commotion out there yesterday!

HERE IS YOUR LADDER #1 UPDATE:

12/29/09 – IT WAS EASY TO REMOVE THE ICE ON THE 29TH BUT I WILL NEED DYNAMITE TO REMOVE THE ICE TODAY. IT IS 12 TO 16 INCHES THICK FROM THE HEAVY WAVES AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES.

1/4/10 – WHEN I ARRIVED AT 10AM A POLICE CAR FLEW BY ME IN THE PARKING LOT WITH HIS LIGHTS AND SIREN SOON FOLLOWED BY 3 FIRE TRUCKS, 4 MORE SQUAD CARS AND BOTH THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPT SCUBA DIVING TEAMS. THERE WERE MORE ON LAKE SHORE DRIVE NEAR OAK STREET. I WAS TOLD 4 KIDS WERE PLAYING ON THE ICE AND ONE OR MORE FELL IN. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT WAS A PRANK BUT THANK GOD NO ONE WAS FOUND. I ONLY SAW A FEW PEOPLE WALKING ALONG THE LAKE FRONT AND I WAS LOOKING FOR OPEN WATER TO SWIM IN AS I PASSED OHIO ST ON MY WAY TO NORTH AVE PARKING LOT.

HAPPY CHILLY NEW YEAR !

DIVER DAVE

  1. HOLY CATS IT LOOKS AS IF THE FLOURSCENT ORANGE PAINT IS TRYING TO MELT THE ICE ! ! !
I PUT THE AX IN THE CAR INORDER TO CHOP LADDER #1 OUT OF THIS HUGE SLAB OF ICE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT THIS THICK IN 35 YEARS. AT MOST ITS 2 OR 3 INCHES THICK AT THE BASE.
