Our first official winter meetup took place at 7:10am. And while we didn’t really get much swim time in the lake, it was worth the visit thanks to am amazing show to the east by Mother Nature. The lake temp dropped slightly from last week to 36F, but we had to contend with a much more bracing 21F air temp.
Unfortunately (fortunately?), we only got in a short dip near L1 as the entire lakefront was iced in out to around 50 feet. To get to the open water would have required that we ice break and slog our way through solid and semi-solid ice floes with jagged edges that closed in around us as we waded through it. I made it out about 15 feet before realizing that the effort was futile. But I stayed in for a bit to enjoy the very relaxing and much appreciated early winter ice bath!
